The upright A-pillars, low engine tunnel and high roof makes for a really spacious cab. And it is – even for tall drivers, the standing height is a whopping 220 centimetres.

You can bring a lot in this cab. The spacious front, under-bunk, rear and exterior storage can be tailored to your exact needs. And there are plenty of clever compartments for smaller items, too.

A BIGGER HOME ON THE ROAD
Are you looking for more space and comfort? Discover the extended Globetrotter XXL cab with a bed that’s 250 mm wider and 130 mm longer than in the Globetrotter XL. Home away from home doesn’t get more comfortable than this.

WIDE AND COMFORTABLE BED
The lower bunk offers a comfortable rest with up to 1065 mm width (Globetrotter XXL cab). You can even choose a manual or electrically controlled bunk that inclines to 55 degrees – perfect when resting, reading or watching TV.

CLEVER AND COMFORTABLE STEERING
The fully adjustable steering wheel, which comes with a 20-degree necktilt function, makes driving more comfortable. Conveniently controlled by a foot pedal, you can also move it out the way when you enter or exit the cab.

A CLASS-LEADING SEAT
The seat adjustment range is world class. You can move it 24 centimetres from front to back and 10 centimetres up or down. The shape also gives superior lateral support and provides improved support for those with longer legs.

ECC WITH AIR-QUALITY SENSORS
The electronic climate control has improved air vents and a multitude of sensors and filters that purify the air before it fills your lungs. The result is unprecedented air quality, improved defrosting and a draft-free environment.

Easy-to-use navigation, Volvo Connect, improved communication and quality audio entertainment. Volvo Trucks’ integrated system for services and infotainment brings these features together in one interface – a seven-inch touch screen. Operate it manually, via voice commands, and through steering wheel buttons.

This system combines the cab’s audio and entertainment unit with the Volvo Connect and navigation functions.

Integration of services and infotainment means they’re easy to operate. Touch the screen, hit the steering wheel buttons or use your voice. Whatever suits you best.

Voice activated
A seven-inch touch screen provides easy operation. You can also control the functions via buttons on the steering wheel, or with your voice. Two Bluetooth connections also mean that you can connect two devices at the same time – perhaps your work mobile and your private phone.

Navigation
The Volvo Connect OnBoard is directly integrated with the navigation system. Fleet managers can send destinations from the Volvo Connect web portal to the navigation.

The navigation system accepts a range of direction inputs – including addresses, coordinates or a touch on the onscreen map.

Keep your assignments on track. Stay in touch with the office. Plan driving and resting times, and let Driver Coaching help you become more fuel-efficient. The system and all its functions are integrated with the navigation in the driver interface.

A powerful sound package
Get access to Deezer or TuneIn and stream your favourite audio entertainment. Switch on the DAB radio. Connect via USB, AUX or Bluetooth to your smartphone or tablet. Then, six speakers and a power output of 4×35W give a robust sound experience. You can add more speakers to your system to make playback even more perfect.

It’s more than a key
Lock or unlock the cab from a distance or use it as a main switch to reduce the electrical power consumption. Turn on the lights so you can approach safely. And if you feel threatened, push the panic button to blast the horn.

Energy-efficient lighting
Thirteen energy-efficient and powerful light sources illuminate the cab. Lighting is easily controlled, either with three pre-set options or with the dimmer. When you’re driving in the dark, you can even switch to red lights to enhance your night vision.

Sleeper panel
The advanced sleeper panel lets you control the interior lights, alarm clock, parking heater, parking cooler, audio system, windows, roof hatch and locks. Without ever leaving the bunk.

TV ready
Your Volvo FH16 can be factory-prepared with everything you need to plug and play a 19” TV – which you can connect through the cab’s fantastic audio system.

Safety-conscious skylight
The tinted glass sunroof adds to the spacious, light and airy feeling inside the cab, and doubles as an escape hatch. It also comes with a sunblind, a mosquito net, and the option for electronic controls.

BETTER STARTABILITY WITH CRAWLER GEARS
I-Shift with crawler gears. Developed for heavy transport and construction. A faster rear axle ratio allows you to maintain cruising speed at much lower revs. And lower revs save fuel. Starting from standstill with heavy loads just got much easier. Even in extreme conditions with up to 325 tonnes onboard.

Our new integrated powertrain features an enhanced Euro-6 engine and Volvo’s unique I-Shift. Compression ratio is increased on the D13 420 and 460 hp versions. There is also a new optimised turbocharger on the 500 and 540 hp variants of the D13 engine.

THE RIGHT RATIO
What do we mean by the correct ratio? Well, it’s all about rear axles. These are the last link in an efficient chain which delivers power from the engine to the truck’s wheels.
By equipping our rear axle with the right ratio for long haul, it works in perfect harmony with our D13 engine and I-Shift Dual Clutch.The result? Lower revs. A more comfortable drive. And greater fuel efficiency.

I-CRUISE HELPS KEEP SPEED STEADY
Intelligent cruise control. I-Cruise adjusts your speed to keep fuel consumption down. This not only helps towards your productivity by maintaining a high average speed. It also contributes to a safer, more comfortable drive.

EVERY ROAD REMEMBERED
Which route will use up least fuel? I-See memorises and stores all hills in a central database. Free for other trucks to use. This information allows the truck to automatically react to gradients in order to avoid unnecessary gear changes. No maps or GPS required.

CHECK THE PRESSURE
Tyre pressure. It’s easy to underestimate the effect it can have on your profitability. Together with correctly aligned wheels and axles, the right pressure in your tyres can go a long way to helping you save fuel and money in the long run.

SHUT DOWN AND SAVE FUEL
Small changes can make a big difference. Engine driven components consume fuel when in use. Air compressors. Steering servo pump. And even the engine itself. Shutting them off when they are not in use saves fuel. And money.

ENERGY SAVING TYRES
Our tyres help bring out the best in your truck. For example, 315/70 R22.5 tyres are specifically designed for long haul transport. Fuel savers to suit your assignment.

AIRFLOW PACKAGE MINIMISES WIND RESISTANCE
A smooth body keeps fuel consumption down. With the help of wind tunnel tests, we have fine-tuned the wind deflectors. The result? Significantly lower fuel consumption.

RAISE THE DRIVE AXLE
Lower turning radius. Maximum traction. Lower fuel consumption. Tandem Axel Lift is a unique feature for 6×4 or 8×4 configurations. It combines the traction and load capacity of four-wheel-drive with the driveability and efficiency of two-wheel-drive.
When the truck is unloaded, simply push a button to disengage and raise the axle. As soon as it is loaded again, the drive axle automatically lowers and engages. Ensuring maximum traction and driveability.
Also, by disengaging the drive axle when it isn’t needed, you can further reduce your fuel consumption by up to 4%.

I-SHIFT – SIMPLE, DEPENDABLE AND VERY FUEL EFFICIENT
I-Shift maximises performance and efficiency by monitoring and responding to vehicle mass, road inclination, speed and acceleration. Coupled to a Volvo diesel engine, it reduces fuel consumption compared to a manual gearbox.

As you drive, I-See uses information about the road gradient to manage speed and gear changes in the most fuel efficient way. By taking advantage of the truck’s kinetic energy, the system can reduce your fuel consumption by up to 5%. The biggest savings are made on gentle slopes, but I-See saves you fuel on almost every gradient.

ALIGN YOUR WHEELS AND INFLATE YOUR SAVING
